Richness is who you are not what you have.

I wonder why it is that we feel so compelled to judge ourselves on the basis of what others are doing or earning or what they happen to look like relative to ourselves?  Why should it matter a hoot what other people are or aren't when it comes to one's own feelings of personal adequacy?

At work some people might be unlucky enough to have mine-Hitlers who on obtaining positions giving them status and power over others feel the need to prp up their own faulty egos by putting down others.  That does nothing to help either person.

On the other hand, there are those who realise the intrinsic worth in being just who they are.  They don't feel any need to go on 'fishing expeditions' to suss out what others think of them.  They don't feel the need to compare their bank balances or their appearance against anyone else.  There is a sense from within that they are genuinely worthwhile human beings, with sets of value like honesty , generosity and kindness that don't have any particular economic rationalist monetary value attached to them.

They are at peace with themselves, which is as it should be.

True richness is in who we are as a person.  That is what should be important - not what position we may currently have, or how much we possess.
